Syllabus Scope

For Paper 1 subjects, the syllabus follows the graduate-level curriculum prescribed by Bihar’s state universities for that subject. For Paper 2 subjects, it follows the Honours-level graduate curriculum prescribed by Bihar’s state universities for that subject.

Paper 1 (Secondary) – Subjects & Codes

A separate set of qualifications also applies for Special School Teacher posts under Paper 1, requiring a B.Ed. in Special Education from an institution recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India, along with a valid RCI registration number and 6 months of training in a cross-disability area.

Paper 1 Subject-Group Clarifications

• Mathematics group: Mathematics along with any two of Physics/Electronics/Computer Science/Chemistry/Statistics at graduate level, or an engineering graduate with a mathematics specialization. A BCA is counted as a Computer Science qualification for this purpose.
• Science group: Zoology, Botany, and Chemistry at graduate level, or an engineering graduate with a science specialization. Biotechnology/Microbiology are also included.
• Social Science group: A pass in any two of History, Geography, Economics, and Political Science at graduate level, with History or Geography compulsory as one of the two. Ancient History is treated as equivalent to History.
• Language subjects: For secondary-level language-teacher posts, the language must have been studied as an Honours or Subsidiary subject at graduate level.

Music, Dance, and Fine Arts are each examined separately under Paper 1. Physical Education is examined only under Paper 1.

Paper 2 Clarifications

• Multi Media & Web Technology is not taught in Bihar’s state schools, so it is not tested under Paper 2.
• Candidates from the Commerce stream are examined on the subject “Commerce” under Paper 2.
